Basler & Hofmann announced Tunnelling Design Firm of the Year
Basler & Hofmann took home two awards from this year’s International Tunnelling and Underground Space Awards. At the award ceremony in London on 1 December 2014, Martin Bosshard, head of Tunnels and Railways, accepted the first prize as Tunnelling Design Firm of the Year and second place in the category Major Tunnelling Project of the Year (over $ 500 million).
The awards of the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association are presented for outstanding achievements in tunnel construction and tunnelling-related infrastructure. The competition is stiff: this year, all major international engineering companies in the tunnel construction sector were among the contenders with high-profile projects.
The Tunnelling Design Firm of the Year award honours companies that demonstrate consistently high quality in tunnel construction over a long period of time, bring innovative solutions to their projects and the industry, and overcome major challenges to resolve issues for the client. “This award is a very gratifying tribute to the excellent work of our project teams over recent years,” says Martin Bosshard, head of Tunnels and Railways.
SBB’s Zurich cross-city link project was also singled out for special recognition – in this project Basler & Hofmann was head of the engineering consortium responsible for overall project management. It won second prize in the Major Tunnelling Project of the Year (over $ 500 million) category.
